Lola Project
The Lola Project is 100% owned by the Company and is located in eastern Guinea, adjacent to the company's Samapleu project, which is just across the border in Côte d'Ivoire. The Lola Project area includes the entire extension of the prospective geological environment that hosts the company's Samapleu nickel, copper and platinum group elements deposit and the Sipilou and Foungouesso world class nickel cobalt laterite deposits in Côte d'Ivoire.
Location:
The Project is located approximately 1,000 kilometers East of Conakry, the Capital of the Guinean Republic and encompasses 1,212 square km. The area is well served with a road network leading to the Project from either Conakry or Côte d'Ivoire. All required services are available in the nearby towns of Lola and N'Zérékoré.
Ownership:
Decree N°A 2010/5072 has granted the company mineral rights for Base Metals and PGM on three exploration permits totaling 1,212km2 (Lola Project). The permits are registered under N°A 2010/249/DIGM/CPDM with the Guinean Mine Department.
The Lola Property is owned a 100% by Sama Resources Inc.
Opportunity:
The project has strong potential for nickel, copper and platinum group elements mineralization as well as potential for nickel cobalt scandium rich laterite.
The geological setting of the area is characterized by the presence of ultramafic and mafic intrusions forming an almost continuous succession within a corridor of structural deformation orientated more or less NE-SO. The deformation zone extends for almost 170 km with 60 km in Guinea and remaining 110km in Côte d'Ivoire. Ultramafic and mafic intrusions located within the Lola property can be the host of either, nickel and copper sulphide mineralization (ie: Samapleu poly-metallic deposit) or nickel and cobalt rich surface laterite deposits (ie: Sipilou and Foungouesso laterite deposits).
Exploration program:
The Company is very encouraged with the Lola Project's potential for new deposits of nickel, copper, platinum group elements and nickel cobalt scandium rich laterite. Exploration models applied will be based on targeting deposits similar to the company's Samapleu poly metallic deposit as well as the world class nickel laterite deposit across the border in Côte d'Ivoire. Regional geological information historically compiled by Guinea's geological survey has confirmed the mineral potential of the area with indication of copper occurrences.
Exploration work at the Lola Project will start by mid-February 2011. Our exploration work will focus at delineating prospective nickel and cobalt laterite plateaus as well as discovering new nickel-copper sulphide mineralization.
The initial exploration work will include digging exploratory man made shafts on promising laterite plateaus, as well as conducting geological mapping and stream sediment sampling programs.
